More Secrets and Pies / July 21 2008
Reg collared me again today. He was coming out of the Blockbuster store on the High Street with an arm full of DVDs. ‘What do you reckon?’ he asked.
‘What’s that, Reginald?’
‘I said to the bloke in there,’ he pointed behind him, into the shop, ‘Can I have Batman Forever?’
‘Oh, yes?’
‘Do you know what he told me?’
‘What?’
‘He said I’d have to bring it back eventually.’
He waited for me to laugh but I could only manage a smile and an ironic grunt.
‘Anyway, what’s the secret you were going to tell me the other day, Reg?’
‘Ah,’ he said, warming to the new subject, ‘come here, Davy, I’ll have to whisper this.’ He glanced around to make sure no one could hear him as I took a tentative step forwards. He leaned in to my ear. This is what he said: ‘Aliens.’

He has a point though. Aliens is a good film.
