The Earth Moved / April 28 2007
This morning, the Earth did indeed literally move for Audrey and me.
Around 8:am BST there was an earthquake with a magnitude of at least 4.7 which shook householders in parts of Kent and which was also felt as far away as Derbyshire, where we live.
I don’t imagine that the effects up here were anywhere near as dramatic as they were in the South East of the country, but even so, the tremors rattled my fillings whilst I was evacuating my bowels and caused Audrey to bark at a wall for an hour.
Unfortunately, as part of its spiteful campaign against me, the planet also felt it necessary to produce a power surge in our domestic supply which caused my PC monitor to fail. I am using an old wooden 15in one at the moment, which I keep as a spare in case of alien invasion or major earthquakes.
Clever me, eh?
